The following texts were written in the context of a creative writing workshop, entitled “Je me suis parcouru moi-même” (“I travelled into myself”), offered within the context of Montreal Life Stories, an oral history project collecting the stories of Montrealers displaced by war, genocide and other human rights violations. Offered by writer and artist Stephane Martelly, the workshop was held primarily in French and although I had always written in English, French is my mother tongue, so I thought this context could be particularly interesting for me. Indeed, I found myself writing in both French and English, and sometimes in both languages, within the same text. The following are some of the texts I produced:
