CURRENT MUSIC PROJECTS
Life Stories Choir
I’ve formed a multi-lingual choir, which sings songs of freedom, hope and resistance in French, English, Spanish, Persian, and Arabic (for starters), to honour and celebrate the lives and stories of those who have lived under repressive regimes, such as those individuals we have come into contact with, within the context of the Montreal Life Stories oral history project.
This project could not manifest itself without the collaboration of sound artist and choir director, Kathy Kennedy. Performances so far have taken place at the Centre d’Histoire de Montréal (March 8 and March 24) and the Monument National (March 21).
Our next performance is May 5 for the “Voices for Freedom and Justice” concert being presented by the Lea Roback Foundation. Current members of the choir include: Rania Arabia, Sharzad Arshadi, Kevin Batdorj (guitarist), Lilia Bitar, Nance Castonguay, Agnès d’Ornano, Stefan Eguizábal, Sandra Gasana, Lise Gantheret, Oula Hajjar, Christina Howisons, Lawrence Joseph (guitarist) Kathy Kennedy, Caroline Kunzle, Renato Neyra, Masoud Raouf. Past members: Jean- Baptiste Berthet, Chantria Tram.

SOUND THEATRE
It Is Only Sound That Remains
In collaboration with artists Shahrzad Arshadi and Moe Clark, I produced a sound theatre performance, entitled It Is Only Sound That Remains, honouring and remembering the life of Montreal photojournalist Zara (Ziba) Kazemi. The project was selected for the Artist-in-residence 2010-2011 by the Oral History as Performance working group of the Montreal Life Stories project and has so far been presented four times in Montreal, in April and September 2011 and our latest performance being on March 29, 2012.
